Integrating the Warehousing and Transportation Functions of the Supply Chain

چکیده
Electronic commerce and associated business-to-business transaction capabilities have changed the way in which the supply chain operates. The Internet has enabled information exchange on an unprecedented scale, often at a pace too fast for normal consumption. Companies are not equipped to make effective use of data from warehouse and transportation management systems. These systems are key factors in integrating the physical flow of goods along the extended supply chain. We explore the potential for this “virtual warehouse” paradigm to improve customer service through improved efficiencies, reduced costs, and reduced lead-time variability.

Mathematical Formulation and Solving of Green Closed-loop Supply Chain Planning Problem with Production, Distribution and Transportation Reliability
In this paper, developed a new multi-product, multi-period, and multi-level closed-loop green supply chain planning model under uncertain conditions. The formulated model consists of five objective functions, which minimize the cost of the supply chain, minimize the CO2 emission of transportation vehicles, maximize the reliability of manufacturing and distribution centers, maximize t...
متن کاملEffects of integrating physical and financial flows through a closed-loop supply chain network under uncertain demand and return
The impact of financial challenges on the profit of a supply chain, have caused the researcher to model the supply chain network by considering the operational and financial dimensions. Also, the establishment of a closed loop supply chain (CLSC) network has a high effect on economic profit. So, the purpose of this study is to design a stochastic closed loop supply chain network by considering ...

Supply chain managers in a growing number of companies are using optimization models to support factbased decision-making. Such models assist them in making better decisions about sourcing, manufacturing, transportation, warehousing, customer service, and inventory management across the geographically dispersed facilities and markets of their companies' supply chains. Imbedded in easy-to-use sy...
متن کاملSupply Chain Coordination through Lead Time Crashing in a Socially Responsible Supply Chain Considering Transportation Modes and Carbon Emissions Tax
In this paper, a socially responsible supply chain consisting of one supplier and one retailer is proposed. The supplier decides on replenishment cycle multiplier and the retailer invests in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and decides on the order-up-to-level under a periodic review replenishment policy. The retailer’s decisions impact on the supplier’s probability as well as the supply c...
